Welcome to the Spherical Editions catalogue of music by Robert Hugill. Robert is a London-based contemporary classical composer and our catalogue contains the full range of his music. Clicking on the links on the left will enable you to explore our full range of all types of Robert's music. Many pieces have programme notes and reviews attached, so that you can learn more about the music. All vocal and choral music should have the full words available. Each piece is allocated a cost code, you can learn details of the cost codes by clicking on the cost codes link to the left or on the cost code letter itself.

We have now started publishing music by other composers, first on-line will be the young Brazilian composer Ricardo Frantz, click here for details.

Some pieces have samples of the printed music for you to down load in PDF format or sample audio files. The Music Samples page lists all the PDF's available and the Audio page lists the audio samples available (in Audioblog, mp3 and midi format).

All the music is available for purchase on line via pay-pal, but please contact us for details of our discounts for multiple copies. There are also generous discounts available to those buying music for religious institutions. If you would like to see a specimen copy of the music before buying, then please contact us directly and we will happily send you one.

New to the Catalogue

Volume 2 of Tempus per Annum is now available. This volume contains 22 motets covering Lent, Eastertide, Ascension Day, Whit Sunday and Trinity Sunday. The motets set the texts of the Latin Introits for the day. As usual the motets are written for unaccompanied SATB choir, some motets have a limited amount of division. 6 of the motets will also be available in versions of ATBaB choir.

When complete, Tempus per Annum will consist of 72 motets covering all the Sundays and major feasts of the Church's year. Volume 1 is already available and covers Advent and Christmastide. The four Advent motets were recorded by Paul Brough and the eight:fifteen vocal ensemble on their disc of my music on the Divine Art label.

A disc of Robert's music The Testament of Dr. Cranmer has been released on the Divine Art label. Two new pieces were created for the recording. An arrangement of The Lord Bless Thee, for tenor and strings, and an arrangement of Faith, Hope and Charity, for solo violin and strings. For more details see the links on the left.

In November 2007 Robert's song To His Love, setting a text by Ivor Gurney, came 2nd in the English Poetry and Song Society's Ivor Gurney Competition. His song Requiem also reached the final 4. To His Love is available in a version for soprano and piano, whilst both To His Love and Requiem for part of the Four Songs to Texts by Ivor Gurney for baritone and piano.
