New to the Catalogue

January 2012 sees a signficant number of items available on the website for the first time. There are a number of new Song cycles, including Farewell, Love setting texts by the Tudor poet Thomas Wyatt and set for tenor and instrumental ensemble (also available for piano). Another song-cycle for voice and ensemble is He Wishes..., four poems by W.B.Yeats set for soprano and large ensemble with a prominent harp part and the Four songs to Texts by Ivor Gurney are also now available in a a version for Baritone and piano sextet.

Robert's concertino for bassoon and strings, Duino Angel is now available for Cor anglais and strings as well as in a reduction for Cor anglais and piano. Other instrumental arrangements include Advent for brass quartet, Echoes of Love Remembered for Clarinet quintet and Pour out your light, O stars for Wind quintet.

The first two pieces are available from a project based around Rilke's poem Orpheus, Eurydice, Hermes. Orpheus' Journey is a tone poem based on the opening stanzas of the poem, and Orpheus, Euridice, Hermes a duet concertino for Cor Anglais, Bassoon and strings. The W.B.Yeats settings He Wishes... is also available in a purely orchestral version.

Crossing, Robert's setting of two Rabindranath Tagore poems for choir and organ, is now available; the piece was premiered by FifteenB in 2006 and repeated by them in 2008.

TEMPUS PER ANNUM

Volume 3 of Tempus per Annum is now available, this volume covers the first 18 Sundays in Ordinary time, setting the Latin introits for 5-part choir (varying between SSATB, SAATB, SATTB, SATBB). Some of the motets are rather more substantial than in the previous volume and nos. 10 and 11 can be sung together as a single two-part motet.

When complete, Tempus per Annum will consist of 72 motets covering all the Sundays and major feasts of the Church's year. Volumes 1 and 2 are already available and cover Advent, Christmastide, Lent and Passiontide through to Ascension. The four Advent motets were recorded by Paul Brough and the eight:fifteen vocal ensemble on their disc of Robert's music on the Divine Art label.

Mass for the Epiphany

Robert's Mass for the Epiphany is now available, though some movements have been available separately. This substantial and unusual work ses all of the Latin propers for Epiphany along with the Epistle (Surge, illuminare). In addition the setting of Lancelot Andrewes sermon on the Nativity, The Magi, forms the centre-piece of the work. The Magi was premiered in December 2010 by London Concord Singers. Robert's opera When a Man Knows received its stage premiere on 31st March 2011 at the Bridewell Theatre in a production by Ian Caddy, with lighting by Matt Haskins, conductor David Roblou.

CD

A disc of Robert's music The Testament of Dr. Cranmer is available on the Divine Art label. Two new pieces were created for the recording. An arrangement of The Lord Bless Thee, for tenor and strings, and an arrangement of Faith, Hope and Charity, for solo violin and strings. For more details see the links on the left.
