Scored for 4 trumpets and 4 trombones, it was written to act as a bridge between the contemporary and baroque parts of the programme in the concert at the Chelsea Festival 2002, when FifteenB and Philharmonia Brass
gate the first performance of The Barbarian at the Gate. It opens with the fanfares and march
associated with the Trojans and then goes on to combine these with the
march associated with Attila's Huns. |
